Obituary

Randolph "Rudy" Russell Ronk, age 67, of Shiocton passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. He was born on January 18, 1957 to Donald and Florence (Wagenknecht) Ronk. Rudy married the love of his life, Patricia Verstegen, on April 12, 1986.

Rudy was a lifelong resident of Shiocton, graduating from Shiocton High School in 1975. Rudy then went on to meet some of his closest friends while working at Appleton Papers and fulfilling his retirement from now Appvion with 42+ years.

Rudy was a devoted member of St. Denis Catholic Parish and a dedicated member of his community. He spent many years running the Shiocton Slowpitch League, volunteering at all the local softball tournaments, being a part of the Shiocton Lions Club and serving at The Salvation Army "Bread Of Life" Center.

Everyone will remember Rudy for his love of sports. For many years he was an avid bowler and enjoyed league bowling. He was also a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan as well as a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved following high school sports and was a diehard Nichols Nitros follower and Dairyland League supporter. There's nowhere he'd rather be than at a sporting event cheering on his favorite team.

Rudy is survived by his beautiful wife of 38 years, Pat; his daughter, Kaylyn (Kyle) Vande Hey and son, Donny Ronk; grandchild, Della Vande Hey; siblings, George (Patty) Ronk, Mary Kay (Ron) Kriese, Mark Ronk, Joann Ronk, Barb (Mark) Kropp; in-laws, Mary Hoehne, Barb (Karl) Hooyman, Steven (Denise) Verstegen, Kevin (Julie) Verstegen, Carla (Rich) Masten; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Welcoming him into heaven are his parents; his sister, Jean; father and mother in-law, Jim and Grace Verstegen; brother in-law, Jerry Hoehne; and other relatives. He is also reunited with several very close friends who preceded him in death and he greatly missed.

According to Rudy's wishes, friends and family are invited to gather, share stories and celebrate his life at a future "Celebration of Life" get together that will be held at a later date.

We would like to thank all the amazing doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth's Hospital that helped care for Rudy and the wonderful team at Compassus Hospice Care. You are all truly incredible at what you do and we are forever grateful and appreciative of you all and a very special thank you to our dear friend, Kathy Young.

Rudy always said, "It's been an honor and a Privilege".
