Rita Jansen's Memorial Mass Video

Rita Marie Jansen, age 92, peacefully slipped into the arms of her Savior surrounded by her loved ones on April 19, 2023. Rita was born on August 16, 1930, in Hanover, PA daughter of the late John and Anna (Krichten) Wagner. She married Eugene Jansen on February 24 th , 1951. He preceded her in death in 2006.

Prior to being married, Rita worked for the US Pentagon in Washington, DC. Rita worked for Winnebago County Veterans Affairs Office and retired in 1995 after 22 years of dedicated service to helping US veterans.

Rita had many wonderful and fun hobbies and pastimes. She loved to cook and bake for her family, read biographies and autobiographies, watch her daytime soaps, watch the Packers and play card and board games with her children and grandchildren. Rita had a sweet tooth like no other and was always the 1 st in line to get her plate of goodies. Later, she loved to travel with her children and take on the one-armed bandits in the casinos. She stole the hearts of all who met her with her sweetness and sense of humor. Rita was a spirited soul who loved life.

Her family and faith were the two most important priorities in her long and fruitful life. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She was always there for her children and had a way of introducing humor and light-heartedness to any situation. She particularly loved spending quality time and laughing with her grandchildren. She was instrumental in helping raise her grandchildren. Pure joy radiated from her when she was with them. Rita was so proud of her whole family. She loved every moment being with them.

Rita is survived by her children, Steve (Marlene) Jansen, John Jansen and his partner Jean Murrow, Chris Jansen, Lori Nelson and her partner Jeff Streble, Lisa (Josh) Michalkiewicz; grandchildren Matthew (Katie) Jansen, Morgan Michalkiewicz, Carly Michalkiewicz; great grandson Sean Jansen. She is also survived by her siblings, Margaret Faust and twin sister, Helen Prestipino; sisters-in-law Yvonne Butts and Ellie Dohr; step grandchildren, Mike Graber, Melissa Lamine. Rita is further survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; her parents (John and Anna Wagner), her father-in-law (Henry Jansen) and mother-in-law Loretta Jansen; brother Burnell Wagner; brothers-in-law John Faust, Hank Prestipino, Earl Jansen, Paul Dohr, Lyle Butts; sisters in-law Elaine Dohr, Jetty Wagner; son-in-law, Steve Nelson and special friend Paula Michalkiewicz.

The Memorial Mass for Rita will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville with Fr. Phil Schoofs officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Menasha.

Rita's family would like to thank the entire staff on the 3 rd floor at ThedaCare New London Hospital as well as the hospice staff for their kindness and compassion in her time of need.

Mom always would say, "Love you dearie" and give you a hug. Mom, we love you dearly and miss you tremendously, but we know one day we will be reunited with you.
