Robert "Buck" Ellis Cass, age 65 of Hortonville, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, January 3, 2022. Buck was born on February 3, 1956 in Green Bay to John and Donna (Ellis) Cass. He was united in marriage to Dawn Sprengler on December 17, 1988 in Polar, WI. Buck served his country in the US Marine Corp. from 1974 – 1976. He went on to graduate from Michigan Tech. Buck loved working with wood and always had a project. Over the years he crafted many pieces for his kids, grandkids and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family at the cabin in Dunbar. Buck worked as a mechanical engineer his entire life and most recently worked at Modular Web Solutions, retiring in May 2021. He was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville, serving during worship as well as in children's ministry. Being an Eagle Scout himself, Buck was a mentor and leader for Troops 67 and 77, while his sons were in Boy Scouts.
Buck is survived by his wife, Dawn; his children, Jonathan (Molly) Cass, Nicholas (Danielle) Cass, Anthony Cass and Phillip Cass; his mother, Donna Cass; his grandchildren, Elena, Theodore and Rose; his father and mother-in-law, Rev. Donald and Phyllis Sprengler; his sister, Linda "Bunny" Ryan and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Scott (Heather) Sprengler, Amy (Brian) King, Jennifer Sprengler and Tom Sprengler. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Buck was preceded in death by his father, John Cass and an infant sister, Diane Cass.
The funeral service for Buck will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Greenville with Rev. Steve Kline officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2022 at the CHURCH from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will be held at the church.
