Roger M. Griffin Sr., age 80, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, in the Town of Lebanon (Waupaca Cty). He was born on June 29, 1941, Town of Lebanon, son of the late Mark and Odena (Ritchie) Griffin. On October 23, 1965, Roger was united in marriage to Ellie Schellin in New London. He served his country in the US Army. Roger operated Transport Oil in Wautoma and New London from 1965-1975. He then started Griffin Excavation from 1975 to 2005, from 2005-2010 he worked with his son at Ryan Griffin Excavating; he then drove trucks for farmers and black toppers until poor health forced his retirement.
Roger is survived by his wife Ellie; sons, Ryan (Misty) Griffin, Rob Griffin (significant other Tracy Schmidt), and Roger Jr. "Tig" Griffin; grandchildren: Quinton Griffin (special friend Hailey Schmude) Logan Griffin, Caitlyn Griffin (Special friend Aaron Millard), Ty (Carissa) Griffin, Cody Griffin (special friend Hailey Whiting), Hailey Schmidt (special friend Dylan Bortz), Gage Griffin, and Cole Griffin; five great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, Greyson, Alexis, Hazel, soon to be Parker; his siblings Mark (Darlene) Griffin and Lynn (Bonnie) Reed. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Rory, stepfather Farrell Reed, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Walter and Clara Schellin, a grandson Bryce, and his dog Bud-Bud.
The funeral mass for Roger will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 4-7 p.m. at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London, and also at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at the Most Precious Blood Cemetery with full military honors being held.
