Obituary

Sally Danke's Funeral Service Video Sally A. Danke, age 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022, as the Lord called her to him in her sleep.  She was born on February 27, 1943 in New London, daughter of the late Frank and Velda (Wolfgram) Runge. On July 6, 1963, she married William A. Danke. He preceded her in death in 2003. Sally and Bill raised five children on a farm north of New London, where they operated a hobby farm.  Lil' Feather was the first milk cow that helped pave the way for the little farm.  Sally maintained the farm, with the help of the kids, while Bill drove semi-truck during the week.  She grew a huge garden that all the kids helped with.  Sally loved to sew and made numerous outfits for Easter and Christmas, which usually matched.  She enjoyed watching her children grow and helped with the 4-H projects of all types and was a leader for many years.  Bill and Sally were in a bowling league for many years, and she was in the ladies' Monday night league.  Sally enjoyed making flower arrangements, especially for her daughter's weddings and was known for her "raved about" potato salad, which was always empty when she went to collect her bowl.  She enjoyed fishing and watching sports, whether it was her children or grandchildren, high school, college or professional….if there was a game on, and she would be watching it.  She looked forward to the Kentucky Derby every year and would drop everything to watch the most exciting 2 minutes in sports.  In retirement, she volunteered at the New London Hospital, enjoying the conversation with people that would come in.  She belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies Aide.

Sally is survived by her four daughters, Dawn Danke, Debra (Tim) Dey, Rena (Roy) Luedtke, and Susan (Jason) Griffin; a son Clinton (Donna) Danke; a brother, Chuck (Adrienne) Runge;  grandchildren, Jessica (Andy) Oesterreich, Amber (Ryan) Young, Travis (Emily) Dreier, Nicholas (fiancé, Libby) Danke, Ryan Danke, Julia Danke, Matthew (special friend, Moria) Dey, Blake Dey, Jacob Luedtke, Jamie (David) Barnard, Jaxon Luedtke and Samantha (Tom) Dusel; nephew, Todd (Amanda) Runge and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Sophia, Alex, Addison, Lilly, Auron, Elijah and Jessie.  She is further survived by brothers-in-law, Russell (Nancy), Robert (Stef), Jerold (Mary), Gerold (Bev) and Tom (Judy); sisters-in-law, Barbara (Phil) Gallow, Elizabeth Dey, Georgianne Webb, Pat (Doug) Erhardt, Diane Lathrop and Althea (Chuck) Grothe, along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; mother and father-in-law, Louise and William Danke; aunt, Sylvia Runge; brothers-in-law, Donald (Carol) Danke, Donald Dey and Robert Webb and sister-in-law, Donna Danke.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Trinity Terrace for the love and care shown to Sally.
