Shawn Retzlaff, Sr.  age 50, of New London, Wisconsin, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 8, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Shawn was born in New London on April 15, 1973 to the late Dick and Catherine (Batig) Retzlaff.

He was a dedicated professional truck driver. He drove for several companies over the years, including for himself, which he was the most proud of. In his free time, Shawn liked to stop in at Anglers Bar to see his family and friends, but could make a friend anywhere he went, with anyone he met. He was just that kind of guy. He was always willing to lend a hand to a friend in need. Shawn liked his Harley Davidson motorcycles, he enjoyed off-roading in his younger years, and he was a member of the UTV Club. Above all, Shawn loved his family with all his heart; what he took the most pride in was raising two successful sons.

Shawn is survived by his two sons, Shawn Jr. (Emily), Brady (Brandi), his brother, Tim (Tammy); his sister, Deanna (Paul); niece, Jessica (Drew); nephews, Michael, Jeff (Gina), and Cody (Sydnee); former partner, Jeni; bonus children, Ashley, Regina, Ty, and Sarah; grandchildren, Austyn, Aaliyah, Atheyn, Raina, Mason, Akaliya, Benton, Aiyana, Ariellya, Greyson, Azayvior, and Aizaya.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Catherine; long time step-father, Alex Szymborski; good friends, Russ Otto and Chris Hidde; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank the team at ThedaCare Appleton for the compassion and care given to Shawn.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London, with a prayer service to follow at 5:00 p.m.
