Shirley Thyssen's Memorial Mass Video
Shirley Ann Thyssen of Hortonville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Shirley was born on August 8,1938 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to the late Leo and Evelyn (Schneider) Ruedinger.
On June 18, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Thyssen in Appleton.
Shirley enjoyed her winters being a snowbird in Texas for many years and her time traveling around the country. Other interests included going to the casino, her flowers, her cat Buddy, delivering meals on wheels to the elderly, being a member of Christian Mother's Society for 50 years, and working alongside her husband operating Stoney Acres Concrete and Lawn Ornaments.
Shirley is survived by her children, Jodi Monk; Sandy (Mike) Griesbach and Tim (Tammy) Thyssen; 11 grandchildren: Brad (Miren) Monk, Bryan (Jaime) Monk, Vanessa (Aaron) Simonton, Desiree (Ed) Burke, Heather (Mike) Manteufel, Ashley (Bill) Smith, Stephanie (Scott) Russell, Trevor Griesbach, Taylor Thyssen, Taven Thyssen, and Troy Thyssen; 14 great-grandchildren: Maddison, Brycen, Braelynn, Abrielle, Emerson, Mia, Corbin, Ellie, Sam, Josh, Jack, Tyler, Tristan, and Jonathon; sister Evelyn (Dave) Bromwell; sisters-in-law, Bev Thyssen, Betty Burmeister. Shirley is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Evelyn; husband, Kenneth; brother Robert (Joann) Ruedinger, Jack (Audrey) Thyssen, Jerry Thyssen, Joanne (Gene) LaPlante, Rosie Thyssen, Roy Burmeister.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hortonville with Fr. Phil Schoofs officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Private family burial will be held at a later date at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery.
