Sue Handrich's Funeral Service Video
Sue A. Handrich, age 81, of Hortonville passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023. She was born in Sugar Bush on March 2, 1941, the second oldest of nine children, to the late Henry and Ruth (Randt) Sawall. She attended grade school in Sugar Bush and graduated from New London High School with the class of 1959. On June 10, 1967 Sue married Alfred Handrich in Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush- after a short courtship. He preceded her in death in 2020. Sue was a stay-at-home mom, raising her children and many times helping her husband in his work. When her children were older, she started at St. Joseph's in New London, where she eventually managed the housekeeping department and then after retirement, served on their board of directors. She was a tireless giver with a kind, loving and generous heart. Sue found something to love in everybody. She never feared giving you her opinion. Sue was always honest and loved strong. Throughout her lifetime, Sue generously volunteered. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville- serving on different committees and labored for her church home congregation in many ways. Sue was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a skilled bowler and competed in many leagues. Sue was hardworking in everything she did. She enjoyed the cabin in Clintonville, where many cherished memories were made. Sue was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Family was everything to her!
Sue is survived by her children, Laura (Tony) Harke and Laine (Trisha) Handrich; grandchildren, Mason (Ashley) Arnold, Malory (Grant) Hulke, Mackenzie (Joe) Lake, Marek Arnold, Blaze (fiancée, Taylor Bernard) Handrich and Brielle Handrich; great-grandchildren, Ayden and sibling on the way, Hudson, Anna and Everett; siblings, Richard (Opal) Sawall, Alan (Margaret) Sawall, Ruth (Larry) Kalbus, June Free, Gordon Schmidt, Barbara Sawall, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al; infant son, Lee; son, Lance; siblings, Henry (Barb) Sawall, Vernon (Jan) Sawall, Robert Sawall and Retta Schmidt; nephew, Jeff Sawall; niece, Dianne Mehlberg and father and mother-in-law, Walter and Meta Handrich.
The funeral service for Sue will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville with Rev. Tristan Paustian officiating. The visitation will take place at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.
