Obituary

Susan “Sue” Jones daughter of Raymond and Margaret McKeever, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at the age of 71.

Sue was born on May 7, 1955 in New London, Wisconsin and graduated from New London Senior High School in 1973. She married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Dave, on September 28, 1974. They shared a beautiful journey of 51 years filled with love. Together they raised three sons, who were her pride and joy. She not only was a mother to her boys, she was a motherly figure to many friends and family as “Aunt Sue.” The memories she and Dave created with their family, whether celebrating holidays or simply enjoying everyday moments, will be treasured. Sue passed away leaving a legacy defined by love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

Known for her generous spirit, Sue found her greatest fulfillment in caring for others. She was a talented craftswoman who lovingly sewed baby blankets to welcome newborns into the family. She was deeply devoted to her family and took immense pride in her role as a grandmother of her beloved granddaughter, Adilene, while still having a heart full of love for all her beloved “babies.” Blessed with an outgoing personality, she was known throughout town for her engaging conversations and genuine interest in the lives of everyone she encountered.

Sue also treasured summers spent camping at Huckleberry, where she enjoyed family gatherings and creating lifelong memories. Professionally, Sue worked multiple jobs in the community before finding her life’s calling as a dedicated school bus driver. Beyond her standard duties, she formed meaningful and lasting mentorships with the students on her routes, maintaining connections with many of them well into their adulthood. Sue will be remembered for her heart of gold, giving the best hugs, being a listening ear, her readiness to offer support, and her unconditional compassion. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, David Jones; her children, Joshua (Jaime) Jones; parents to granddaughter Adilene; Nicholas Jones, and Zachary Jones; Siblings; Cindy (David) Gerend, Randy (Connie) McKeever, Pam (Mike) Kanaman, Bonnie (Andy) Peters and Steve (Rachel) McKeever; in-laws; Betty Jones, Carolyn Colson, Donna Schuelke and Sandra Jones. Also, there is a very wide circle of extended family, close friends, and former students whose lives she deeply touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Raymond and Margaret McKeever; in-laws; Russell and Sarah Jones, Alvin, Michael and Alice Jones.

Visitation for Susan will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 with the Funeral Service taking place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London.

Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Thedacare.
