Obituary

Susie M. (Zipperer) Hebel, age 85, of New London entered eternal rest on March 19, 2026. Susie was born in Manitowoc on November 23, 1940 to the late Frank and Mary "Mayme" (Klabatsch) Zipperer. She grew up on the family farm in Whitelaw as the youngest of 9 children. She married Robert M. Hebel on January 13, 1962 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Whitelaw. After marriage, Robert and Susie lived, worked and raised their children in Manitowoc.

Susie graduated from the St. Agnes School of Radiology in Fond du Lac and worked as an X-ray Technician in Manitowoc, Sheboygan, and then Milwaukee for more than 40 years. While living in Milwaukee she enjoyed hiking, dancing and outdoor activities with the Catholic Singles social group and was always ready to investigate new places as long as she had her trusty map. She retired to Greenville in 2010 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Susie will be remembered as a hardworking, kind, and compassionate person who was always thinking of others before herself. She enjoyed taking care of her patients and often was called in to work in the middle of the night to X-ray patients or accident victims. She was always cheerful, and a little sassy, but always with a wink and a smile. Her family meant the world to her and was the source of her greatest joy.

Susie will be sadly missed by her son, Donny (Karyl) Hebel of New London, daughter, Lori (Mike) Wilda of Fremont, grandchildren Bobby Hebel of California and Samantha Hebel (Ryne Goedderz) of Kaukauna, sisters Mary Ann Kletzein of Anoka, MN and Bette Schneider of Harrison, WI, sisters-in-law Marilyn Mayerl of Yelm, WA and Karen Hebel of Rhinelander, WI, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1986, her parents Frank and Mary, Robert's parents Matt and Lillian Hebel, sisters Dorothy, Pauline, and Sally, brothers Bert, Alvin, and Franky, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A private family service and burial will be held at Knollwood Memorial Gardens in the town of Kossuth in Manitowoc County at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Washington Center, St. Joseph's Residence-Monarch Meadows, and Moments Hospice for their years of compassionate care given to Susie.
