Terrence "Terry" McPeak

Terrence Michael McPeak of New London entered peacefully into eternal life on June 8, 2023.  Terry is a well-known fixture in the New London community.  He will be remembered for his truly carefree nature that made others feel lighter and happier in his presence.  His unique, curious personality brought out the best in long-term friends and new acquaintances.  A true people person, Terry lived for those moments of connecting with others.

Terry was born to Earl and Vera McPeak in New London in 1940.  The McPeak family owned Maple View Resort near Eagle River, so Terry experienced his high school years across multiple schools, graduating from New London High School.  His entrepreneurial spirit spanned several endeavors; Terrazio's Pizza, McPeak Dairies, and the Sport Shack.  These were followed by a long career in retail with Prange's and Dayton's/Marshall Field's/Macy's.  In his earlier days, he was involved in civic organizations like The Jaycees and the Lion's Club.  Terry served several years in the United States Army spending time abroad in Stuttgart, Germany.  An avid social sportsman, he enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, and golfing.  The most special event for him however, was the McPeak Open, an annual family reunion and golf outing that has carried tradition for 44 years.

In 1965, Terry married Ruth Ann Lightfuss for an enduring, loving marriage until her passing in 2021.  The two of them raised four children, Blaine, Chad, Troy, and Stacy.  He carried an immense sense of pride in seeing the individual growth and successes of each of his children.  While difficult to see his children leave the home roots, he and Ruth Ann always took the time to travel far and wide to see them.

He is survived by his children, Blaine (Anne) of Arizona, Chad, Troy, and Stacy McPeak (Pat McGee) of California; grandchildren Noah and Claire McPeak, and Francis McGee; his sister Patricia Moriarity, sisters-in-law Pat McPeak and Barb Lightfuss, and many nieces and nephews.  Terry is preceded in death by his loving wife Ruth Ann; parents; siblings Vivian Motto (George), Geri Flanagan (Dave), Ercel McPeak (Betsy), Delores Raschke (Ted), Sally Jensen (Peter), Dawn Petersen, Sharon Peterson (Bob), and Michael McPeak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 14th, 2023 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt presiding.  A visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. followed by mass at 11:00 a.m.  A private burial will be held separately in Most Precious Blood Cemetery, New London.
