Thomas Thurber's Funeral Service Video

Thomas "Tom" E. Thurber, age 79 of Fremont, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at ThedaCare Neenah.  Tom was born on March 18, 1944 in Wabeno, WI to the late Donald and Cecelia (Strong) Thurber.  He was a very hard worker and had a big heart.  He loved helping people out.  Tom worked at Thurber Auto Sales and Building Sales for 27 years.  He also worked at Behm Chevrolet in Hortonville and Bergstrom for 10 years.  Tom loved being around his grandkids.  His hobbies included growing vegetables-especially tomatoes, playing cards with his family and fishing off his dock.  Tom was also good at bartering for goods and services!  He loved watching the birds and wildlife and was always looking for the elusive 10 point buck.

Tom is survived by his son, Donald Thurber (significant other, Clara Amartey); grandchildren, Jenna (Matthew) Billingsly, Stephanie Thurber and Tommy (Payton) Thurber; great-grandchildren, Simon and Henry; brothers, Richard Thurber, Michael Thurber, David (Paula) Thurber and Robert (Sandy) Thurber; sisters, Linda Ciuplinski, Dianne (Gordy) Peterson, Rose (Joe) Kiefer, JoAnn (Rick) Winters and Mary (Russel) Butzer; brother-in-law, Tony Stanton and sister-in-law, Netty Thurber.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald, John and Kenneth; sisters, Betty Stanton and Carol Alderton; sister-in-law, Carol Thurber; brother-in-law, George Ciuplinski; his childhood love, Lana Whitens Thurber and step-dad, Fritz Smith.

The Funeral Service for Tom will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating.  The visitation will take place from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
