Obituary

Tom Huebner of New London, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully after a short illness in the presence of his loving family, on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born on January 30, 1952 in New London, Wisconsin, son of the late Earl and Blanche (Plumb) Huebner. He grew up in the family home located in Sugar Bush, Wisconsin. Tom graduated from New London High School in 1971. On May 20, 1972, he was united in marriage to Nancy Koplien and God blessed them with over 51 years of marriage.

Tom worked for the Toy Factory in Hortonville, Wisconsin for many years starting while in high school at the age of 17. He started out working in the paint shop which he eventually become the foreman. He also worked in construction and drove semi for a while. Also, helped out his son while he was semi-retired installing barn curtains. For many years he played on the Sugar Bush Drifters softball team with family and friends. Tom was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush, Wisconsin his entire life until recently when they joined the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. He served on the church council for Grace Lutheran in Sugar Bush.

Tom was a true outdoorsman. He loved deer hunting, ice fishing, open water fishing, snowshoeing, and watching the birds, deer, and squirrels. Loved spending time with his family and enjoyed all the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Tom is survived by his wife, Nancy, his son, Brian (Stacy) Huebner, his daughter, Heather (Jeff) Engle,  his grandchildren, Racheal (Austin), Zachary, Brett, his great grandchildren, Oaklyn, Isabelle, Jaxon, and Cooper, his siblings Karen, William, and James, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Blanche; his sister, Barbara, brother Leland, brother-in-law, Richard and sister-in-law Sandra.

The family would like to the thank the doctors and nurses at Aspirus hospital in Wausau for the wonderful care and compassion to Tom. Tom will be extremely missed by many!
