Valerie Kurth-Nickel, age 66 of New London, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.  Valerie was born on May 22, 1958 in New London to the late Charles and Bernice (Scott) Kurth and raised in Weyauwega. She married Scott Nickel on November 11, 2016.  Valerie worked as cost accountant for the University of California, San Diego for 33 years. Valerie loved to travel.  She spent 2 years venturing through the United States, Canada and Alaska in her motor home with her husband Scott and dog January, visiting many National Parks and wineries. Cooking was something she was passionate about and she studied in Italy, where she embraced food customs. Valerie's other hobbies included bird watching, hiking, fishing and spending time with her new dog Stella. She had a unique ability to bring people together and her faith was always prevalent.  Valerie wintered in California and returned to Wisconsin for the summers.

Valerie is survived by her husband, Scott, along with her loving and ever-growing family.  She is survived by her step-children, Melissa Forman-Barenblit, Jason Nickel, Jessica Martinez, Shanna Walrath, Nicki Walrath; great-grandchildren, Evie, Jacob, Lily, Michael, McKenzie, Carol, Forrest, Jackson and Olivia; siblings, Alan (Beth) Kurth, Kathie (Jeff) Davidsen and Laurie Kurth (special friend, Steve Jones); in-laws, Tom (Linda) Nickel and Steve (Suzann) Nickel and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents.
