Virginia Calkins Memorial Service Video

Virginia Mae Calkins was peacefully called home to her Lord and Savior at Whispering Pines in Waupaca, on Friday, June 13, 2025 at the age of 89. Virginia was born on October 4, 1935 in Chatham, Illinois to the late Lloyd and Irene (King) Starling. When she was 62 years old, she retired from Lawrence University where she was a custodian. In her free time, she loved dancing, especially the polka.

Virginia is survived by her four children, Bill (Linda) Bentley, Barb Churchill, Tammy (Bob) Cherney, and Gwenn (Jim) Steele. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Irene; four brothers, three sisters and one sister-in-law.

A Memorial Service for Virginia will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating.  The visitation will take place from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
