Virginia Lautenschlager's Memorial Service Video
Virginia Mary Lautenschlager, age 83 of Hortonville, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Virg was born on April 7, 1940 in Bear Creek, the daughter of the late Raymond and Gladys (Ramsdell) Lehman. She was united in marriage to Eugene Lautenschlager on June 6, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bear Creek. Virg was a stay-at-home mom and wife, where she selflessly took care of her family. She and Gene owned Hamples Corners Tavern and Banana's Never In Tavern, where they made lifelong friends, had many adventures and funny shenanigans. Virg enjoyed camping, feeding and watching birds; decorating her home and helping others decorate. She loved Christmas. She loved her whole family endlessly and adored her cats.
Virg is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gene (Banana); children, Jay Lautenschlager, Carrie (Doug) Stueck. Tim (Lisa) Lautenschlager, Al (Lindsey) Lautenschlager and Jen (Tim) Dilge; grandchildren, Ryan Lautenschlager, Autumn Lautenschlager, Jason (Tara) Moder, Justin (Nicole) Moder, Ashley Moder, Kelly (Adam) Vlasaty, Kayla (Evan) Nelson, Garth (girlfriend, Alexa) Lautenschlager and Jack Rathsack and great-grandchildren, Bryce, Brett, Whitley, Avery, Jonathan, Hailey, Freya, Levi, Lena and Archie. She is further survived by brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Virg was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, three sisters, 1 brother and a son, Gene Joseph.
The Memorial Service for Virg will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with her brother, Deacon Joe Lehman officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. An additional Celebration of Life will be held this summer. More detail to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established by Virg's family.
Virg was always an angel and now she earned her wings.
