William “Bill” Muskevitsch, of New London, Wisconsin passed away on Sunday morning, May 24, 2026, at the age of 77.
Bill was born on December 2, 1948 to the late John and Esther (Kuhnke) Muskevitsch. He served in the United States Army from 1969 – 1971. After returning home from Vietnam, he found comfort in New London and his surrounding friends and family. He married the love of his life, Peggy Berzill, on July 27, 1968, and they had two children, Wayne and Wendy. He worked at Hillshire in New London and retired after 35 years.
If you knew Bill, he was a man of few words, but he didn’t need words to let you know he cared. He had the biggest smile…when you got to see it, you couldn’t help but smile back, and if he teased you, it meant something. He had a hearty laugh. He loved his family; Wayne and Wendy, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren, but everyone knew the love of his life was Peggy, affectionately known as Leggs. Bill loved hunting and fishing and boat rides on the river. He was a river rat. While fishing, he was known by his CB handle, “The Real River Rat”. He enjoyed the shakebox, loved liars dice and gifted the game to many friends and family. He loved pontoon rides and going for pizza at the Waters. He especially loved when they would do their annual Good Friday run. He has too many friends to count and it didn’t matter if you were a lifelong friend or if you just met him yesterday.
Bill attended church every Sunday. He loved going to the “Office” and that’s where most people knew him as Uncle Bill. He had a designated parking spot and his own stool. Do not sit in or park in Uncle Bill’s spot or you will have to move! Years ago, his time spent at the Office was with his best friend Pat Wagner. People described the two of them as an old married couple. It was entertaining to listen to them for sure. After Pat’s passing, he became a part of the 3 Musketeers. Bill, Weiner and Hairball; everyone looked forward to seeing them and what kind of adventure they would take that day. The three of them would take their weekly Friday sign-in rides, which meant so much to them to be able to do.
We are all so proud of him but in true Bill fashion, he would wave you off and say it was just what he had to do and he was no one special. We all know he was, but it was one topic we knew not to talk about. It took a lot of convincing, but we are so grateful he agreed to go on the Honor Flight out of Appleton. He and Wayne went together and we all showed up to welcome them home. He finally got the welcome home he always deserved.
To say Bill will be missed can’t even begin to describe how empty this world will be without him. He’s been an influence and a staple in so many lives, we’re not sure how to move on without him. We will remember one of his famous sayings, “I live forever, you never die.”
Bill will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Peggy, of nearly 58 years; his son, Wayne (Tracy) Muskovitsch; and daughter, Wendy (John “JJ”) Hintzke; siblings, Shirley Viotto of Appleton, Nancy Hager of Freedom, Beverly (Dennis) Plaster of New London; sisters-in-law, Shirley Muskevitsch of Fond Du Lac, Deb Muskevitsch of Clintonville, Diana Muskevitsch of Hortonville, Cheryl (Jim) Hoffman of New London; brother-in-law, Tim Menzel of Menasha. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Jared Muskevitsch, Johnny “JW” (Brittnay) Hintzke, Nicolle (Eric) Muskevitsch, Josie (Colton) Hintzke; and great grandchildren, Jaelyn and John “JD” Hintzke; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Muskevitsch; siblings, Jimmy Muskevitsch, Johnny Muskevitsh, Laura Menzel, Romy Muskevitsch, Joseph Muskevitsch, Johnny Humblet; sister-in-law, Jeanie Humblet; and brothers-in-law, Jim Viotto, and Jim Hager.
The Funeral Service for Bill will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London. Friends and family will gather to reminisce and pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Full Military Honors will be held at Taft Park following the service.
