William Burton's Funeral Service Video William E. Burton "Burt", age 62 of New London passed away in the care of his family on Saturday, March 5, 2022, following a long battle with cancer.  William was born on May 2, 1959, in New Windsor, New York to the late Donald and Margie (Cohea) Burton.  William was united in marriage to Peggy Ritchie on March 27, 1977, in New London.  He proudly served his country, retiring from the US Army in 1994.  He was an avid gardener and a wonderful cook. William loved projects and had visions of fulfilling them- he was a dreamer by nature.  He loved his family and held special his grandchildren.

William is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Stacy (Brad) Peterson, Bridget Burton (fiancé, Philip), William (Alexandria Bloechl) Burton, Melissa Burton (fiancé, Jeremy), Mitchell (Courtnee Hauxwell) Burton,  Kyle Burton, and his youngest child "Tank"- a Great Pyrenees; grandchildren, Bradley Jr., Brent, Jay, Cooper, Sacha, Elliot, Joyce, Hailey, Freya, Nina, Gia and Lylah and siblings, David Burton (special friend, Jane), Annette (Mike) Kiser, Donna Frederick (fiancé, Tim) and Janet Burton.

William was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donny, sister, Lisa Ann and brother-in-law, Ken Ritchie.

The funeral service for William will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating.  The visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Full military honors will take place at the funeral home following the service.  Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.
