Guyette, Robert Charles
Robert Charles Guyette, age 41, passed away on March 8, 2016, in Naples, FL. Robert was born on May 2, 1974 to the late Glen and Mary (Montour) Guyette. The simple facts of Robby's life do little to explain who he was as a person. So beyond how Robby grew-up in New London and attended its schools and such, there are more important facts that need to be stated. Robby was willing to give of himself, sometimes literally. When his brother, David, was having kidney function concerns, Robby found a quiet moment between the two to offer his kidney for transplant, if needed. He had God-given artistic abilities and the rest of the family was envious--mainly because the rest of us would be hard pressed to draw recognizable stick people. Robby, in stark contrast, could recreate art from photographs or put what he pictured in his mind's eye onto paper. He was fortunate to possess that talent. Time and distance apart never lessened the love Robby felt for his son, Tyler. Best of all, Tyler inherited his dad's best inner traits---notably having a great sense of caring and empathy for others. Also, that special gift of being able to express oneself through art. Perhaps having the sensitive soul of an artist was a contributing factor to Robby's struggle to find lasting peace. No matter the reason(s), he would chase to find that lasting peace by making life decisions we, as his family, disagreed with; however, that never stopped us from loving Robby. There was always the hope and prayer he would find his peace as part of this earthly world. As people of faith in a higher power, we know he has, at last, found his peace. No more struggle and strife. No more chasing. Robby is now surrounded with God's warm love and the love of Mom, Dad, Gerry, Jessica, Grandpa/Grandma Montour and Grandpa/Grandma Guyette.
Robert is survived by his son, Tyler Knapp (Hailey); step-mother, Susan Guyette; siblings, Kim (Randall) Boerst, David Guyette, Melissa (Jason) Thomaschefsky, Glen Guyette II, Amanda (James) Brummel, Robert (Sharlotte) Rhode, Laurie (Steve) Perkins and William Rhode; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Greg) Oelke, Courtney (Kyle) Boerst, Greycen Johnson, Cody (Anna) Guyette and Kayla (Colton) Guyette, Lauren Thomaschefsky, Garrett Thomaschefsky, Richard (Patricia) Rhode, Elliot (Stephanie) Rhode, Hattie Rhode, Owen Brummel, Lilly Brummel and Claire Brummel; great-nephew, Dylan Teske; great-niece, Kaitlyn Oelke; Godparents, Linda Dillenburg and Charlie Guyette and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerry, grandparents, Charles and Theo Montour and Ronald R. and Clara Guyette and niece, Jessica Boerst Teske.
Until we see him again in a better place, we will carry the good memories of Robby in our thoughts and our love for him in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Cline and Hanson Funeral Home in New London. Pastor Dan Thews will be officiating from Faith Lutheran Church in Appleton. Visitation will be from 9-11 at the funeral home.
