A truly unfinished life at the age of 53, died on Monday, December 18, 2006, following a valiant fourteen month battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme (a deadly brain tumor). Rick was born on June 11, 1953 in Montello, Wisconsin son of Eugene and Dorothy (Raymond) Napralla. On July 1, 1974 Rick was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart and love of his life Cynthia Ann "Cindi" Adams in New London. Rick graduated with an Associate Degree in Police Science from Fox Valley Technical College and started his law enforcement career as a patrol officer with the New London Police Department in 1974. He worked his way through the ranks becoming an Investigator, assuming the role of Assistant Chief and earning promotions to Lieutenant in 2001 and Captain in 2006. He received numerous letters of commendations and was awarded the Outagamie County "Best Badge" award for his investigative skill in 2001. Rick also served his community for 13 years as a member of the city of New London Planning Commission. On August 15, 2006, Rick retired after 32+ years with the department. An exceptional party was held in his honor on October 26 which he enjoyed immensely and will always be remembered. A special thank you to Chief Kevin Wilkinson and the New London Police Department for their efforts and entertainment. Rick will always be remembered for his winning personality and his wisdom. He could see the potential in people, land, and of life decisions. He loved four-wheeling, telling stories, and having a few beers with his best friends Tim Nitke, and Bob Ebben. He enjoyed traveling the world, a perk of the partnership with Cindi for they owned a travel agency for 17 years, but most importantly, he loved his family and spending time with all of them. Rick will live on through his soul mate Cindi, three daughters: Andrea (Tim) Reichenberger, Darboy; Ann-Marie (Kabel) Helmbrecht, Appleton; and April Napralla, New London. Also through his granddaughters: Vanessa and Adalyn Reichenberger and grandson Kabel Jon Helmbrecht Jr. His mother, Dorothy Napralla, Montello; three brothers: Gary Napralla, Montello; Kent (Linda) Napralla, Montello; Mark (Eileen) Napralla, Montello; two sisters: Mary (Rodney) Dziadosz, Portage and Tami (Curt) Dollar, Wisconsin Dells: sisters and brothers in-law Michelle and Kevin Money, Mission Viejo, CA; Tim and Kendra Adams, Iowa City, IA and Dan and JJ Adams, Rancho Cucamonga, CA.; sisters in-laws: Carol Napralla, Portage; and Nanette Adams, Vernon Hills, IL; as well as by his father and mother in-law Jac and Anna Mae Adams, Dubuque, IA. Rick is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rick was preceded in death by his father Eugene, a sister Gaya Napralla and a brother Gordon Napralla. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. David Lewis officiating. Friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the procession leaves for the church. The family would like to thank the staff at Cherry Meadows and Theda Care at Home for all of their guidance and support. We know Dad would also like to thank Dr. Thomas Wascher and David Bond and Dr. William Guenther for all of their medical efforts. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
