Kathryn A. Jeffers, age 67, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021, following a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born in Stephenville, Texas on August 12, 1953, daughter of the late Dean and Shirley M. (Rogers) Jeffers. Kathryn graduated from New London High School in 1971 and from Ripon College in 1975. Her communications degree led her to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Professional and Executive Development, as an Adjunct Faculty member for 25 years. Kathryn traveled the country teaching the importance of conflict resolution to CEOs, owners, and the rank and file. She was a master at her craft. Kathryn became a published author, including "The Long Road to Arlington", "Return to Base Camp" and "Don't Kill the Messenger".
Kathryn loved people, regardless of their backgrounds and interests and as a result, she developed hundreds of friendships around the state of Wisconsin and throughout the country. This was especially true with those she lived among in the Amherst, Iola, and Stevens Point areas. KINDRED SPIRITS TO THE FULLEST!
She was intimately associated and involved with many community organizations and events, including the Food Co-op, Wellness Institute, and Women's Resource Center, as well as a previous owner of the Amherst Landmark Coffee House. Many friends and visitors remarked about how Kathryn was the first person that came to mind when help was needed, as she always said yes. She was actively involved as a Hospice volunteer, where her beautiful singing voice was put to great use. And her green thumb was on display wherever she lived.
Kathryn is survived by her partner John Knechtel; brothers Steve (Sue), Patrick (Tina), Mark, Robert (Janine); sister-in-law Joy (Mike); and Aunt Corrinne Jeffers. She is further survived and fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as local and nationwide friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Mike, former partners Sam and Paul, dear friend Bruce, along with her maternal and paternal grandparents, many aunts and uncles, plus local neighbors and friends who she shared an abiding friendship with.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the outstanding care Kathryn received from the staff at Eagle Court Memory Care in Appleton, and from her hospice team at Moments Hospice and most especially to her partner John, who stood by her side through thick and thin, for better and for worse, in sickness and in health.
A Memorial service will be held for Kathryn at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, (209 W Cook St) New London at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Most Precious Blood Cemetery, New London.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer's Association.
One of Kathryn's most favorite prayers was…
In the end these things matter most:
How well did you love?
How fully did you live?
How deeply did you learn to let go?
